Pricing

Geared towards individuals or small to medium sized businesses with the need for economical yet effective websites, I can build your site from the ground up or revamp your current site. Rates vary based on the content of the website, but basic sites can start as low as $200 to $300 depending on graphic content and the number of pages.

Some people may ask, "What about quality? Why would I pay for a Yugo when I can buy a Cadillac?" The answer is simple. It's not like the difference between a Yugo and Cadillac, but more like the difference between a Chevrolet and Rolls Royce. If I could afford a Rolls Royce, I might buy one. However, my Silverado is reliable, cost a lot less and gets me to the exact same places.

I will not sacrifice the quality of a website regardless of how much you pay. One thing to keep in mind is that a poorly designed website can often be worse than having no website at all. I will not cut corners just to get a company on the web, unless that is what is asked of me by the client. We are a team, and if you look bad, I look bad. Visit my Clients page for some examples.

What makes some websites cost more?

As for specific pricing, I will be posting some examples very soon of different types of websites and some rough pricing. But again, each site is different and requires a different amount of programming, graphics and pages. Dynamic ASP, PHP or Cold Fusion websites, for example, will cost more than basic, static pages.

"What's the difference between dynamic and static web pages," you might ask. Well, static pages are pages where the content never changes, unless a programmer changes the content. Dynamic pages have the ability to display different data, images, etc., depending on the links that take the visitor to that page. They can also change based on the input of a form or by selecting certain options on that page. Here are some examples of static and dynamic pages:

www.siegmeister.com - This was a site I did a couple of years ago. Each page is static, or in other words, the content of each page is pre-programmed and never changes for the visitor.

www.nellabros.com - This site has a few different dynamic pages. The entire products section has pages that are populated from a database, which contains the companies products. As the database is updated, so are the products - all without having to change the design of the pages at all.

www.horizonbradco.com - Another good example of dynamic pages. Their product and category pages are also database driven.

What are the benefits of dynamic websites?

There are so many benefits to using dynamic pages over static pages. One big advantage is website maintenance. The time to add, modify or delete products from a website is much less with dynamic pages, since the data is in a database. There is no need to modify the pages themselves. Simply change the item in the database and that is it.

Another advantage is consistency. Each page will be consistent in it's layout, because the same page is used over and over to display different data. The main structure is set up, and the data falls right into place on the page.

An advantage that some smaller companies don't realize is that dynamic pages force them to be a little more organized and structured since the data has to be compiled for the pages. Some companies use the data I compile to organize their inventory better. This saves time on their end and encourages them to be more structured.
